Diets? Why I don't agree with them

November 19, 2016

I'm pretty sure you've either heard of the word 'diet' or have been on one yourself. It's a great way to lose those few pounds before any big day. There's also a million different diets out there for you to choose from. But in this post, I'm going to explain to you why I don't agree with the very popular diet trends.

I believe in lifestyle changes, not short term diets. Whether small or big, changing your lifestyle forever is the best thing you can do for your mind, body, and spirit. Diets are short and sweet, but in the end, your most likely going to start off at square one (maybe even a few more pounds). Not only that, but it is unhealthy to lose too many pounds in a week. Our bodies aren't meant to fluctuate so much. Which is why it's better to adjust your lifestyle in a healthier manner, for the rest of your life. Sounds like a big commitment huh? Well at first it might sound like a massive chore, but eventually the good habits that you make, will stick with you and then the healthy lifestyle becomes a breeze. Yes sometimes we falter, but the best thing is to start back up again!

Another thing I dislike is the limits! While I don't implore you go on junk food binges every week, I don't think it's fair to turn your head from a nice piece of cake. I'm a huge believer in moderation, and that goes for super healthy foods as well. Instead of saying no to all carbs and sugars, find out new ways to incorporate your favourite carbs with some really healthy foods. Like instead of having a huge bowl of ice cream, only give yourself half the amount and then add lots of fruits on top. Fruits, which are still high in sugars, have lots of other goodies like antioxidents. Focusing on a balanced diet, instead of going on a 'diet' will be much better for your body.

Here's another new fact that I just found out recently, about fatty cells. Did you know that once a fat cell is created, even if you lose weight, it doesn't go away. It only shrinks. This is a big factor for why people generally gain the weight back so fast after the diet has ended. This one of the reasons why people fluctuate thier weight so much on diets. And this is why you should make a lifestyle change, not a short term change.

Until next time,

Namaste
