How to Make 2017 Your BEST Year Ever!

So every year, everyone sets new goals for the new year. Full of promises and new experiences! However you might also notice how fast people give up or lose sight of their new goals. Well today I am going to share with you a few tips to get you back on track and on the right path, for you!

The first tip I have for you, is don't set a million goals! Yes, that might be a big exaggeration, but a common mistake people make is setting too many big goals for themselves and then they feel like they don't know where to start and that's where you will lose your motivation.

So set a few big goals for the year, a maximum of 5 goals. From there you can decide on the mini-goals that will help you get there. An example: Big Goal - Eat Healthier. Mini-Goals - Collect and try healthy recipes, buy only healthy food from the grocery store, get friends and family on the same page and excited to eat healthier. The point is not to overwhelm yourself with too many goals that feel too unobtainable.

The second tip is to ease into the goals, don't just dive right in and expect results. When you set new goals you will also be changing your habits to accommodate your goals. And changing your habits takes time and dedication.

Remember, you have a full year to achieve your 5 goals, so take your time and dedicate yourself to your goals daily, but don't expect results to just happen tomorrow. When you remember the big picture and slowly work towards them, you will achieve your goals. Believe in yourself! You CAN do it!

The third tip, is to set goals that actually MEAN something to you. Don't let other people pick goals for you, and don't let your ego pick goals either. Letting your ego pick goals, is like saying, "Well I SHOULD be doing this or that, so I guess I'll make that my goal...". Your just setting yourself up for failure.

So pick goals that make you really look forward to 2017, goals that put a smile on your face just thinking about it. Remember, everyone is unique, so everyone's goals are also unique. You are the boss of your own life.

The fourth tip I'd like to leave you with, is to schedule time in your week to work on your goals. If you don't set specific time to focus on your goals, then you'll constantly be putting them off. Write it down in your schedule and don't over book and let other things get in the way. Also set dates for milestones that you wish to accomplish and keep checking in on your progress. Remember the big goal and how you will feel when you have accomplished it.

Speaking of writing it down, make sure you write your goals down! You are much more likely to achieve your goals when you write them down. This is because you have proof of your goals (not just in your head), you can put them somewhere close by (either your night stand or office desk), you can read them often (and remember what they were), and you can check them off when your done (which is a REALLY great feeling!). This is a really great way to give yourself focus, when you think you might be losing track of what's really important.

The fifth tip is to tell someone about your goals. Get someone to hold you accountable for your goals. Someone you trust to hold you to them, or an acquaintance whom you know just well enough to share your goals and ask them to hold you accountable. This way you will be less likely to make excuses.

And lastly, be easy on yourself! If you notice yourself going off-track from your goals, be mindful of this and figure out a better way to stick to your goals.

Life doesn't always go according to plan, so expect some bumps along the way and prepare yourself mentally to stick with your goals. Being kind to yourself is going to make you so much happier and more empowered to change your habits to achieve your goals.

Well, I hope these tips help you. Please comment or message me your goal setting tips!

Until next time,

Namaste
