Retreats vs Vacations

Hello dear friends. Today, I'd like to talk to you about retreats. For those of you who have never gone on a retreat before, or do not understand the difference between a retreat and a vacation, I dedicate this blog to you.

First let's go over some differences between a retreat and a vacation. Retreats are generally themed i.e. adventure retreat, spa retreat, meditation retreat, yoga retreat etc. and there's so many out there that you can find a retreat to fit your style and goals. Retreats are fully guided, with an itinerary and guide of things to do, places to go, and resorts to stay in. Retreats generally have a high emphasis on healthy food, which is planned out by the retreat leader. Last but not least, retreats have this superpower of transformation.

Why is relaxing so good for you?

I guess a better question would be, who doesn't like relaxing? While studies have shown that a little bit of stress is actually healthy for us, a lot of stress can cause serious health issues. It's easy to get caught up in life, and let everything get in the way of taking a few moments of relaxation daily. That's why it's very important to take the time to schedule relaxation time, so that you can fully revitalize your mind, body and soul. If you forget to do this daily and see the stress is getting to you, it's time to book a retreat.

Ever come back from a vacation and think to yourself that you need a vacation? Well you probably didn't give yourself enough time to relax and rejuvenate. Which is why you need to treat yourself to a retreat instead.

How do retreats transform you?

Well generally through the activities, healthy foods, and bonds you make with the other retreaters. Because the retreat is designed around your experience and what you will take away from the retreat, you are most likely going to come away from your retreat feeling either awe-inspired, centered, peaceful, or even like a brand new you.

So what is the point of a retreat and why should you bother going on one?

As you may have known, I hosted my first yoga retreat this summer. It was amazing! We did daily yoga and meditation, ate healthy yummy food, and made some really great friends, and relaxed the day away.

So here are some things that we all took away from the retreat. The first thing is, it is really easy to get into the mood of relaxing when you are surrounded by nature. The second is, that it's always good to pack in a massage or two. And the third is, that when you are surrounded by like-minded people in a relaxing and open environment, you can really create strong bonds that have the potential to impact your life.

There's no reason why you should not give yourself the time you need to recuperate from your day-to-day activities.
